Driving Education Towards World Change

To Offer Schools Across the Country a Science of Motorsports National Curricula K-12.

RFE founding members have built the roadmap and are implementing Phase I of a 6-12th grade Motorsports theme integration of chemistry, biology, physics, math, and technology.
Phase II is the K-5 integration. Phase III is an 11th and 12th grade ‘Intro to Engineering’ curriculum.

To Drive More Students Towards STEM Careers

Racing is fun. A Motorsports based STEM curriculum has students curious. Curious enough to say yes, instead of taking a different path. Students are open to learning when it is a subject that interests them. When the current Physics of Motorsports curriculum was offered to 11th graders at a public charter school in Florida, there was a 400% increase in class enrollment, 50% less drop out, and 30% of the students were young women.

To Affiliate Curricula with Colleges and Universities

RFE’s course curriculum is being built with higher education in mind. Universities and Colleges are founding members of Racing For Education, and have contributed towards the development of the STEM curriculum. RFE is in support of high schools building dual-enrollment courses in conjunction with their local community college or university. Part of our Ambassador Program (REAP) is to build the bridges between K-12 and higher education in mapping a course for career success in the sciences.

To Work With Industry to ‘Draft’ Skilled, Capable Students Into Their Business

American business and industry is in need of more students taking a career path into the sciences. American industry needs more engineers, scientists, mathematicians, and technologists. When Industry ‘Plugs In’ and begins working closely with their local universities, colleges, high schools, and grade schools, they can be the recipient of the type of employee they desire.
The Science of Motorsports STEM program creates the perfect opportunity for education to meet commerce. We offer the most exciting educational push to develop our country’s next wave of young engineers for American business and industry. One of RFE’s goals is to create a model that will impact American education and industry by significantly increasing the number of high school students that will choose a career path in STEM programs. Our “product” is a highly educated, skilled and motivated student that, upon graduation, will enter a trade, or a college/university science, math, engineering or other technical program. The curriculum should offer the most well prepared and most competitive students for college/university scholarships as well as those sponsored by industry.
Think about how we ‘draft’ collegiate athletes into professional sports today. What if Industry ‘drafted’ budding high school talent taking STEM courses by scouting, and promoting these students into their summer intern programs, and offering scholarships tied to coming to work for your team?

To Nationally Promote a Gender-Neutral High School Varsity Racing Program

Racing is a team sport. Racing for education advocates a dual path of success. Inspire kids to learn through STEM infused curriculum that in high school offers the opportunity to RACE. How cool is that?
Seems far-fetched? Consider how many high school soccer programs there were 30 years ago? Not many. Today you can’t help but trip over getting your children involved in soccer.
Why not take one of the most popular spectator sports in the world and have all of the factions of the Racing industry come together through the love of Motorsports and collaborate to inspire the minds of students and parents towards the present possibilities of what the Sciences hold for a student’s future.

World Series appearance at Fenway for Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness, shutout....

Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness shut out by legal dept, "World Series will just not be possible but we were thinking maybe this might be a good idea for next year’s Run to Home Base at Fenway Park. Either way, these connections have been great and we are all still brainstorming to see what the next move should be for Home Base and you all (Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness)" said Tommy Furlong Veteran Outreach
Red Sox Foundation and Home Base Program.

Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness proposed: A)  Dana Bowman sky dive into World Series with HUGE, 7,800 sq ft  American Flag ,B) Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness car positioned on the  field C) Bowman drive world's only "arrive & drive" racecar for disabled Vets & physically challenged civilians off the field.

Hanaford explains casually "No big deal....wasn't meant to be, everything didn't line up for us, maybe we'll do the Super Bowl, Daytona 500 or Indy 500....never know the bigger plan, just keep doing right thing - at the right time - for right reason and be ready for that magic moment to happen."

Dana Bowman, Sargent First Class (R) from US Special Forces & Golden Knights, SFC (R) Bowman shares a story of triumph of the human spirit. Dana's tragedy over 10 years ago took the life of his teammate and both of his legs. His inspiring story has been on over 250 International and National TV shows, he is also member of the National Speakers Bureau sharing key note addresses to the Corporate world, Universities & Schools.

Bowman & Halo For Freedom Warrior Foundation will descend out of the sky,  then climb behind the wheel of Accessible Racing's NASCAR style "Arrive & Drive".  "Duno what track we'll visit next; Texas, Daytona, Charlotte are just as close to our New Hampshire based program as Tom Curley's American Canadian Tour or Lee USA Speedway"

"The name is familiar, he had a great story and it is always nice hearing veterans speak. I believe we beat William and Mary for the first time in 13 or so years after he spoke"
-Tim Farina UNH Wildcats Football team.

Accessible Racing has offered dozens of disabled persons – including many former members of the United States military – to experience the freedom, hope and opportunity of driving an actual race car, providing incentive for them to improve the quality of their lives and continue to reintegrate into society. Bowman - Hanaford and Racing For Education are prime example of what the program is all about; providing a road map to recovery for newly disabled persons to see, believe and achieve.

Racing for Education relationship will share modify a couple Karts and show how important it is to you to inspire change, and  access disabled community with life changing opportunities to resonates with kids and improve quality of life through physics, math and high school accredited varsity sport,  Kart racing.

Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness plans to reach out to a TV Journalist Wounded in Iraq War: ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff was accompanying Adm. Mike Mullen,  chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff,  when struck by  a roadside bomb -suffered severe brain trauma and spent more than a month in a medically induced coma.  Woodruff is perhaps the highest -profile member of the news media to be wounded, injuries mirror the experiences of so many wounded war veterans -life was split into before-and-after parts by a bomb.

Woodruff returned to television work with a prime-time documentary about his recovery and the struggles of soldiers with traumatic brain injury and has sought to keep a spotlight on Iraq, and especially on the soldiers who experience traumatic brain injury and combat stress sometimes called the “signature injury” of the Iraq war.

Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness invited to Go Big or Go Home, ....... "Every Thing's Bigger In Texas"

Dana Bowman & Halo For Freedom Warrior Foundation will descend out of the sky to launch the second annual 'Unforgettable Weekend' celebration, then climb behind the wheel of Accessible Racing's NASCAR style "Arrive & Drive" designed specifically for disabled Vets and physically challenged civilians for a chance to drive an accessible race car for the first time, March 6-9 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Sargent First Class (R) from US Special Forces & Golden Knights, SFC (R) Bowman shares a story of triumph of the human spirit. Dana's tragedy over 10 years ago took the life of his teammate and both of his legs. His inspiring story has been on over 250 International and National TV shows, he is also member of the National Speakers Bureau sharing key note addresses to the Corporate world, Universities & Schools.

"He has a great story and it is always nice hearing veterans speak. I believe we beat William and Mary for the first time in 13 or so years after he spoke" -UNH Wildcats Football player Tim Farina

SFC (R) Bowman said, "go ahead - book us. If ya want we'll jump into the World Series in Boston if you can get your car on the field! We just had an event in Pa and we couldn't jump because of the weather, i gave a little pep talk and the guys where playing another team they hadn't beaten in 40 years! They wanted me to go out and call the coing flip, they won that but to be honest the other team was twice their size, but guess what? Ya they won and when i left they thought i was god, but it was all inside them!"

Accessible Racing has offered dozens of disabled persons – including many former members of the United States military – to experience the freedom, hope and inspiration of driving an actual race car, providing incentive for them to improve the quality of their lives and continue to reintegrate into society. Bowman - Hanaford and Racing For Education are prime example of what the program is all about; providing a road map to recovery for newly disabled persons to see, believe and achieve. Dr Heckman said "I'm meeting with Chip Hanauer on Tuesday to discuss how we can work together to bring this opportunity to Seattle.  I'll keep you posted

9-11-01, 12 years later......U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

This program started out by Veterans-for Veterans on 9-11-01 at New Hampshire International Speedway. We where doing a fund raiser at NHIS for the US Army family readiness program (Army Recruiters Wives Association) when planes hit the towers. Beepers went of calling active duty soldiers to Pease Air Force base, EMT Tommy Blanchette brought a TV out to pit road so we visualize what he was talking about and the rest is history. After the event we didn't change the color of our cars or jump on the media band wagon to wave a flag, we decided to make plans to be sure 'when' troops returned home from an inevitable war, they didn't come home from Vietnam to the same disrespect that Jane Fonda led demonstrators showered down on our heroes.

About us:

Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness has developed a unique driver education system for the disabled that uses simulated and real-life driving experiences to instill independence, improve quality of life and rebuild lives.

Based on tested and proven medical rehabilitation scientific research and published reports, Hanaford's educational program takes individuals through a multi-level training program before putting them into a real driving experience in an adaptive vehicle specially fitted up for disabled drivers. The program's signature component is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to turn laps in an adaptive race car on a bona fide short track, for a groundbreaking experience that is thrilling, confidence building, and fun!
