This program started out by Veterans-for Veterans on 9-11-01 at New Hampshire International Speedway. We where doing a fund raiser at NHIS for the US Army family readiness program (Army Recruiters Wives Association) when planes hit the towers. Beepers went of calling active duty soldiers to Pease Air Force base, EMT Tommy Blanchette brought a TV out to pit road so we visualize what he was talking about and the rest is history. After the event we didn't change the color of our cars or jump on the media band wagon to wave a flag, we decided to make plans to be sure 'when' troops returned home from an inevitable war, they didn't come home from Vietnam to the same disrespect that Jane Fonda led demonstrators showered down on our heroes.
About us:
Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness has developed a unique driver education system for the disabled that uses simulated and real-life driving experiences to instill independence, improve quality of life and rebuild lives.
Based on tested and proven medical rehabilitation scientific research and published reports, Hanaford's educational program takes individuals through a multi-level training program before putting them into a real driving experience in an adaptive vehicle specially fitted up for disabled drivers. The program's signature component is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to turn laps in an adaptive race car on a bona fide short track, for a groundbreaking experience that is thrilling, confidence building, and fun!
PIADS: Participants completed the Psychological Impact of Assistive Devices Scale following an event and showed highly positive results in participants’ competence, adaptability, and self-esteem scores with the greatest impact on the adaptability score. Objectives
Strategic Plan bases access to services and product on funding commitment and interest from Veterans Health Care groups & Community Based Adaptive Sports organizations.
Development Model: Veteran's Health Care and Community Based Adaptive Sports organizations established a development model that encompassed 20 key markets throughout the country in 2007 - followed by a nationwide roll-out. 5 years later that grew to more then 175 active community based clubs.
Sally Shoop and Barry Coutermarsh, research engineers at the US Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Lab, discuss the SAVE (Synthetic Automotive Virtual Environments) program, which aims to build hardware and software that can teach soldiers how to control a vehicle to avoid accidents and rollovers, and save the lives of military and civilianvehicle operators.
One third as many soldiers are killed in vehicle accidents than in combat. To get technology for accident avoidance training into the hands of our soldiers, first you have to have good models for road surfaces in military operations so that the vehicle dynamics is accurate enough to respond like a real vehicle.
Challenge: expand virtual racing module and race experience by finding sponsors and partners that can bring together the financial product, and marketing resources to help continue to create compelling motorsport experiences for disabled people of all ages
Sponsorship development (non-endemic) Secure major corporate partners to expand the marketing reach and national presence of disabled racer programs, including vehicle demonstrations, driving practice, racing, instruction, in addition to securing sponsorship for VXP simulation module expansion to as many facilities as possible
Sponsorship development (endemic) Secure partners that can donate parts, equipment, track time, for use to deliver programs, product, and services donations can help underwrite program cost
Marketing Plan Create marketing plan that can take the program to the next level, increase brand awareness, positively influencing consideration for program and services.
